Description of the Experience
Traditionally a real blood group analysis has been done in the laboratory at school, but considering that the analysis is done by students and there is a biological risk of infection, the best option is to analyze it virtually.

The following website: http://www.nobelprize.org/educational/medicine/bloodtypinggame/
provides information on the characteristics of the different blood types and allows blood group determinations .
An person is selected and the web provides data on whether or not agglutination occurs by mixing the blood problem with different reagents. With these data, students determine the blood group of this patient in the same way as if they were making a real analysis at the laboratory.
In addition the site offers the possibility of doing transfusions from blood of different blood groups to this patient. The blood provided for the transfusion is not always the same type of the patient and that allows students to review information of universal blood donor type and universal blood recipient type.

The web activity is presented as a game, making it more attractive and motivating students. Knowledge about the different blood groups through the game will be acquired and students also improve their ICT skills.

The proposed pedagogical practice is very interesting for me. I would implement it in biology classes in 8th grade during the study of blood groups. The fact that in its application the biological risk of infection is avoided, makes it even more valuable. I would recommend this site to be also adapted in Bulgarian language. Such products are seldom found and would be used with pleasure by fellow biologists.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
