Description of the Experience
Theoretical concept:
Weight is the force with which bodies act on the support. When they fall freely they are in weightlessness state. This is because only gravity acts upon them. We can be in such a state when we are in a car passing a convex bridge at high speed, when we jump from a height or descending fast with an elevator.
Model explaining the theoretical knowledge:
State of weightlessness is demonstrated to students as follows: a plastic bottle is filled with water and two holes are made of 7-8 cm from the bottom of the bottle. Water flows out through the holes in a trickle. If we hold the bottle so that the two holes are closed and drop it from high level, we will see that the water does not run out as if someone has plugged up the holes. All parts of the body move with the same acceleration and speed.

Weightlessness is an interesting phenomenon and students are already familiar with it. Needless to say my students have often expressed their interest in the topic. The experiment carried out is simple, to the point and very accessible. I"ll do it and see students' reactions. There are also lots of short films on the internet with astronauts flying in space, which are interesting to watch and discuss with students.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
