Description of the Experience
Theoretical concept:
All bodies fall with the same acceleration, which is known as the acceleration of gravity. Interestingly, if two objects of the same size, but made from different material, are placed on the same height, they will land at the same time, contrary to the assumption that the heavier body falls faster.
Model explaining the theoretical knowledge:
We make two pipes from bottles, as it’s shown in the picture, and let through two equal sized balls, but made from different material - metal and plastic. They fall with the same speed and reach the board at the same time! All objects fall under the force of gravity when no other force acts upon them. In this case air resistance can be neglected.

method is usefull .I also use such method in my lessons. It does not give a full understanding of movement and is not applicable to non-physics lessons

I think this is a relevant experience, since it takes students to observe directly the phenomenon. An interesting similar experience I do in my classes consists in letting fall two identical sheets of paper from the same height: one unfolded and one shaped as a ball. In this way I show them how objects with the same mass can fall in different ways when air resistance is not neglectable.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
