Description of the educational product
The educational product is addressed to upper secondary school students between 16 and 17 years old.
The aim of an educational model is to illustrate a scientific concept through an image that has been chosen by a student.
In this specific model the scientific concept of acid-base reaction is explained.
Once the model has been developed, the student presents it to the classmates asking for their opinion about the usability of the model itself. The discussion, moderated by the teacher, is a training moment and a good opportunity for him to explain the scientific concept and also evaluate the students’ interaction.

- Very good model for understanding the concept of acid-base reactions - the link between acid and alkali = music - dance.

- A suitable analogy to acid-base reactions. DJ who mixes music, thus giving inspiration to dance. According to music we dance.

- Yes, interesting model.

Model is good, the 1st similarity, music and dancing. The picture must contain a reference to dancers as described in the model.
The idea is good, if improve image, it could be used in chemistry lessons.

Excellent idea to explain a scientific concept through an image chosen by the student Important development of a model and the presentation of the same class to understand the validity and usability.
The discussion enriches the educational dialogue, enables students to deal with the knowledge and skills acquired and to be acquired and poses the same in front of the awareness of being agents of their own knowledge.
Teaching in two years of high school, I'm experimenting for some time this methodology because I consider it very useful to overcome the natural discomfort that often students encounter in the study of science subjects.

Thank you for your comments. As Darina says, the model deals with an abstract concept and I agree to this point of view. Indeed, I firstly thought it wasn't the best way to explain the acid- base reaction idea, but the model was done by one of my students and the classmates adored it, so I changed my mind. Maybe it is not a perfect model to explain, but surely it is to remember, because, as Nadia well underlined, it deals with students' daily life and it probably will stuck in their minds better than other things.

The idea of relating a topic that is interesting for students like music and chemistry is great, but I don't think this model represents the acid-base reaction well. It's again abstract as the actual chemistry topic. I think in order to make students more interested in science it would be better if we look for more concrete examples that truly represent the scientific concepts.

A scientific idea with an innovative example...That is how I would describe this kind of Educational Plan. I like it and I see it very captivating. I am really sure that students will apreciate the main idea because the example comes from our daily life. The concept of aicd-base reaction may seem very difficult to be understand but with this kind of comparison helps a lot in it.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
