Description of the Experience
Experience has covered aspects hydrogeological instability in general, with particular reference to events that occurred in Italy or in the world and which the media have spoken of. The approach to the subject starts from experiences directly or by stories of parents about current events reported by newspapers or the web. Each student had the task of gathering information about an event that happened and expose it (even with the mate / y) to the whole class and then discuss the incident and to propose possible solutions. They had to apply the protocol of the "Scientific Method" and eventually suggest proposals and discuss them and compare them with the work done by other groups.
The difficulties in general are those of drawing attention to specific issues of discipline, who are often seen by the young as "distant" from real life. This has happened for the first part of the program carried out: the hydrosphere.
What has attracted the interest of the students is how the man , after all, seeks to remedy to natural disasters and sometimes even man-made. The topic flooding concerns very closely students who live in areas of the basin of the River Bisenzio and Ombrone Pistoiese. Some have reported evidence of parents and documents (photos and publications) related to disasters.

This experience is relevant because it shows the existing connection between the theoretical and real-life world to the students. The students are involved into the analysis of their own experiences or of something they found on the media or related to other people’s tales. Thanks to this experience, the students are leaded to reflect about the hydrogeological instability and about the contribute that each human being can be provide in order to tackle it.
The experience is the validation of the inadequacy of the textbook alone if it is not combined with a direct involvement of the students in order to increase their motivation.
The contemporary didactic must consider the importance of the students’ direct involvement and the current experience seems to be a valid proposal for it.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
