Description of the Experience
Students often say that they have a problem distinguishing between classes of vertebrates and the assignment of selected species to particular classes. They often confuse amphibians with reptiles.
In order to organize and consolidate the knowledge of vertebrate animals I organize schools trips to the Zoo. First, young people are divided into five groups. Each group has to collect as much information about the three selected species of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. Each group has to characterize one previously selected class. News about construction, life functions, way of life and environmental requirements may be derived from the teacher, the information plates and from the zoo staff. Each team is required to prepare a multimedia presentation based on the accumulated knowledge and photographic documentation of the designated classes and belonging species. Then members of the team present results of their work to the public.
This lesson brings very good results because on the test of knowledge of vertebrates students receive very good grades and often provide examples of species that were presented during a public speech.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
