Description of the Experience
In order to get to know the architecture of the computer better I have decided to provide my students with various pieces of hardware which they use to conduct experiments. During the first hour of the lesson I give students part of hardware: graphics card, network card, sound card, RAM memory and processor. I give them some time to take a careful look and I ask them to search information about part of hardware on the internet. They need to find out what part of hardware it is and what kind of work it does. Every student prepares a short presentation about part of hardware which I gave them and giving this information to the class. During the second hour of the lesson I give them a computer (they turn on the computer and check that if it works) and a screwdriver. Next I disconnect the computer and ask the student to remove its case and disassemble a computer. This part of exercise is done by my students, who show me every part of hardware and talk about it. Students do this exercise with pleasure and commitment. Then we start to assemble the computer. I devote 4 hours for this exercise. During the third hour students assemble the computer. I check if they connect the card to a good port. When the students connect everything I check again and turn the power on. Students turn on the computer and they install operating system and write down every step of their work. Students do this kind of exercise with pleasure and gain knowledge more efficiently. Giving the students a chance to touch and see how the computer functions makes the process of acquiring knowledge easier and faster.

It is a motivating and relevant experience. The methodology used to ensure that the student knows the hardware environment elements, based on using a presentation and exhibition of items shown, is one of the most popular in the ICT. To describe the assembly and maintenance work we use this method. Therefore we need to form working groups to perform these tasks because the resources to mount and dismount are limited. I use this method in my classes regularly, as I think is best for the student to learn in a fast and efficient method, while maintaining motivation and interest in the subject .

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
