Description of the Experience
Chemistry, as was taught put great emphasis on descriptive chemistry, memorization being an important skill to achieve examination success. Interpretation and symbolic representation were left until later. Today, the descriptive is taught alongside both the ‘micro’ and ‘representational’. It is difficult for students to cope with all these levels.
Today, there is a danger that chemistry depends too much on the representational, with inadequate emphasis on the descriptive.
Students also have difficulty selecting the important information from the other less important information. Specialists found that students will engage more easily with problems that are embedded in challenging real-world contexts that have apparent relevance to their lives. If the problems are interesting, meaningful, challenging, and engaging they tend to be intrinsically motivating for students.

For a good motivation and learning logical concepts and phenomena have always presented to the students about practical connection and experiential only they will understand the phenomenon. Should not forget that chemistry is an experimental science by definition and I manage to motivate students showing great chemistry in our life, food, basically everything around us is chemistry ...
Also called virtual experiment where I not allowed real experiment (due to toxicity, pollution or absence of substances supplied).

That's right: we have to make what we teach relevant to our students' life. If they don't see any connection they more or less won't pay attention.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
