Description of the Experience
Students are rarely encouraged to study the processes in which concepts and formulas are derived. Instead, the formulas are memorized with the aim of applying them directly, to solve typical exercises. Thus, students are not given the opportunity to deeply understand the introduced geometry concepts and formulas and thus, to solve conceptual problems differing from routine exercises. A conceptual understanding of geometry calls for mental imagination; it requires teachers to help students visualize figures and shapes. We used electronic applets on trigonometric functions, which represent them quite differently from the way they are introduced in the textbook.
The concept was presented in a dynamic, interactive and visual form. The students had the opportunity to explore the concept through the applets. The students were enthusiastically involved in the organized learning activities. Working with the applets
provided them with plenty of data on the basis of which they shared and discussed their views and ideas.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
