Description of the Experience

Students know how to use the internet. Students have problems when they need to explain what kind of internet connection it is and what kind of devices we need to use to get connected with the network. Most students think that we can only turn on the computer and run the web browser. That is the reason why I take students to the server room and I show every part of hardware needed for the network to function well. I use the broken part of hardware which I give the students and they can touch and find information about this part on the website. I try to tell them about them about IP address in a simple way giving an example connection with address of their living. After theoretical part of the lesson I show them a movie titled “Warriors of the net”, where the authors show in the cartoon movie the way data package move in the network starting with a click on the link on the website to upload this website. Movie is in English and students can learn English words of the part hardware and software connected with the network. In the middle of the movie I take a break to explain some of the most difficult part and give some new information. In many cases I use information from the website and I tell the students that they should use different knowledge resources - like Internet, books and ICT magazines.

I have the same problem with my ICT students, i think that the use of "Warriors of the net", could be a good idea for motivating and for helping them to understand what kind of internet connection it is and what kind of devices we need to use to get connected with the network.

Sometimes I have used different videos for explaining difficult concepts, i will use this one in my classroom.

And in fact, the teacher in the video explain in English could help them to reinforce vocabulary and expression in English.

The use of video titled "Warriors of the net", to try to explain in a more enjoyable way concepts related to communication networks, it is also a motivational tool to help Understand the various elements needed for communication between devices. It is a resource that I will use in my classes. When I have to explain concepts related to communication networks and internet. The fact that this movie speaks in english is positive, as the teacher Kamila Paventa explains, this helps reinforce vocabulary in english language, which is the most used in the world of computing. We believe it is a relevant and motivating experience.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes.
