Description of the Experience
When I ask my students who are reluctant to subject of technology who they want to be in the future - most of them replies that a computer scientist. They often do not have any idea about the number of very useful and needed professions.
While conducting the classes related to stage of construction of house and making the installation, I decided to pay attention to the construction trades, for which there is a continuing need.
Many students first heard the word carpenter, roofer, interior stylist, surveyor. Some do not even know who he is a plumber. We talked who does what and what is the way to obtain each of these qualifications. We realized that each of these occupations require some general features such as accuracy, diligence, conscientiousness, dependability but also the manual skills that are developed at technology classes. Work in these occupations in the design and implementation requires knowledge of the basics of technical drawing, its preparation and reading. Together, we drew a conclusion that from an early age on technical or engineering class children should discover their passion for tinkering, ingenuity, creativity and maybe even invention. And if in the future they are going to be an electrician or IT specialist, knowledge of the foundations of mathematics, physics and technology is essential.

I have also problem to gaim the interest of my students. I often think how to arouse ambitious boys’ interest in clothing and girls’ interest in design of everyday objects and ergonomics. I try to attarct them by using computer programmes. For design we use for example Blender3D programme. For planning school trips when a lot of things have to be arranged we use Excel. It is harder to work in more traditional way. Children got used to computers thesedays.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
