Description of the Experience
To conduct the demonstration it is necessary to provide fresh pig heart with preserved pericardium, with longer vessels (often in slaughterhouses they cut the blood vessels and atria)
Students need a scalpel, tweezers court for placement of the heart, a tube and water.
The students first see the appearance of the heart (shape, front and rear surfaces, dorsal and ventral side by touching the walls of the heart, demonstrated by the teacher.
Then the heart us placed in a plastic tray on the back side top to taxidermist.
Student observe the aorta - color, shape, elasticity of its walls.
Then, the experiment is demonstrated by the unidirectional flow of blood from the ventricle into the aorta and the role of marking the valve between the left ventricle and the aorta.
An incision is made in the left ventricle and the pipe is inserted into water, it comes out through the aorta, and then water is introduced into the aorta, but it is not returned to the chamber.
Students make conclusions from observation.
Then the hole to atrial chamber butterfly valves is expanded, to show the strength the heart is lifted by forceps. Outside of the atrium students look for 4 pulmonary veins.
Similarly they are working with the right half. Showing the walls of the upper and lower vena cava, which are closed. Conclusions are made for their elasticity.
Finally a slit septum between the left and right half is made and monitor the thickness of the heart in atrial and ventricular.
After that students fill in tests for the structure of the heart.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
