Description of the initiative
The interest in studying mathematics and sciences has been decreasing over the last fifteen years and this tendency is evident worldwide. This is true for Bulgaria too. Therefore, the project directed its attention to the development of a technology for teacher training in mathematics and natural sciences based on European best practices. The project focuses on the summarized experience from developing a training course for teachers of mathematics and natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology and geography). This course is a result of own research and participation in a European research project under the Comenius Programme of the European Commission.
More Information
The project focuses on development of key competences by improving science education. The project offers access:
- Methodology framework: http://www.keytttcd.cct.bg/images/files/D8-KeyTTT_Methodology_basisEN.pdf
- Description of specific classroom activities, that science teachers can organize with their students: http://www.keytttcd.cct.bg/images/files/activities%20english.pdf
All materials are available in Bulgarian, English, Italian, Polish, Norwegian, Turkish.
Teachers’ Opinion
I find this initiative and the resources it offers very useful, since they are strictly focused and offer the full range of documents, which a teacher might need – the methodology framework and the guidance and detailed description of classroom activities which can be organized with students.
A strong point of the project is that teachers can use the documents in their own language and the activities are described in such a way that it can be directly implemented.
Students’ Opinion
The examples of classroom activities are very interesting. I would be very glad if a teacher organizes such activities for us.

I believe that this practice can find great application in schools since students need more practice to be able to adopt new teaching material.

Methods, described here are interesting and I think they have potential.

This initiative offers a wide selection of resources and detailed instructions for the implementation of each activity. It is directed to teachers, but it would be interesting some of the teachers to try it in practice.

It is really hard to find the practices. The practices themselves have very little information and too much pictures. I think they are not attractive enough. Frankly I would not recommend it.

The idea of the project is really good, but the website is not well done. If someone by accident goes to this website he will decide to leave it even before reading the materials. It is too easy to loose the attention of visitors.

I personally do not like the site a lot, but the information in it is pretty good. One can inquire about many things and learn useful facts.

In this portal I like that it is available in several different languages. I love it has videos that are very useful to students, because it is easier to understand when things are seen and how they are used with examples.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
