Description of the initiative
Planet of Knowledge is a complex electronic education system covering the main subjects that are taught according to the curriculum at the primary and secondary schools. Digital multimedia content consists of processed generally applicable knowledge of subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and natural science. Each of the individual courses relates to a specific level of Slovak education system (primary schools, secondary schools and high schools). Content that is available within the different levels and subjects consists of approximately one hundred interactive lessons of the highest quality. Each lesson contains a number of multimedia presentations, training videos, animations, attractive simulations, illustrations, interactive exercises and activities.
Planet of Knowledge consists of two separate learning environments with the same digital content: Educational environment for the students is designed so that students acquire the required knowledge in an intuitive, efficient, and motivating form. Educational environment for the teachers offers within its own space other tools available to the teachers thanks to which they can customize digital content to their own needs and the needs of their students.
More Information
It is one of the key portals for teachers in Slovakia for the last 10 years. Except the great basic information and its digital content, there is also a number of links to other web pages in particular institutions that provide this national project that is SPU - http://www.statpedu.sk/ and the Ministry of Education - www.minedu.sk and link to the portal for pupils and students - http://planetavedomosti.iedu.sk/student.php/assignments/login_frame.
Teachers’ Opinion
The planet of knowledge:
• helps teacher to provide more visual learning through presentations, videos, animations, simulations, illustrations, interactive exercises and activities. Nowadays work with blackboard and chalk is not interesting for students.
• A teacher can choose from digital content that he/she needs for teaching
• develops logical thinking and autonomy of students
•is improving communication and verbal skills of pupils
• it motivates pupils through ICT resources and tutorials, it improves relationship to physics
• No financial costs - an important attribute.
Digital content for physics in the planet of knowledge is extensive. It is also useful for high school students, where I teach.
Students’ Opinion
• the possibility of creating your own presentation thanks to materials
• possibility to download presentations from the website – makes easier for teacher to explan facts
• exemplifying and interesting explanation
• the possibility to submit tasks via internet
• easier for students to remember
• pupils are more discussing

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
