Description of the initiative
This Website has been created with two aims: providing some educational resources to teachers and students of Senior secondary school level and, above all, experimenting with some innovative ideas, such as the possibility of doing on-line exercises whose result is automatically emailed to the teacher, the result storage in a database importable in a worksheet, for an overall statistical assessment by student and class, the creation of mini-lessons in form of audio files Feed RSS for Edupodcast to download and listen to with an mp3 player, as well as the use of a wiki Feed RSS for posts on CTwiki forum, a blog Feed RSS for CTblog, a YouTube channel RSS feed for CTYouTube and a streaming channel to encourage interaction between teacher and students. The full list of the available resources and activities is on the activity list page.
All this has been made possible by both the instruments and the information available on some of the Websites listed on the links page, as well as the most valuable contributions from the people who run them.
More Information
As the aim of site’s creator, this portal suggests innovative solutions and completes traditional needs of teaching with the opportunities of new technologies.
Noteworthy are the possibilities to carry out the tests directly online, to control if the answers are right and to receive the results of exercises via email. This last item is possible in case that the teachers choose to give homeworks to their students following the procedure and analyzing the results.
For example it could be pointed out: for chemistry http://www.cyberteacher.it/esercizi/sci_compchim.htm; for biology http://www.cyberteacher.it/esercizi/sci_compchim.htm; for earth science http://www.cyberteacher.it/esercizi/sci_terremoti2.htm.
Teachers’ Opinion
The section with the exercises was very useful for me. They are not a lot, but they can be proposed as self-evaluation activity for students thanks to the direct revision and the relative mark assignation. Moreover these exercises fit particularly well for first two high school years students (also when it starts to deal with bio-molecules).
The link to the Hot Potatoes website looks like interesting. It allows to simply manage the preparation of a test, exams, etc. Unfortunately, this website does not seem to be easily usable. Other suggested portals or software are hard to be used as well. According to me, these online resources need very high computing skills.
Students’ Opinion
Initially the website looks little pleasant due to the colours. By surfing it, we changed our mind and finally we found it full of exercises and contents on many subjects and disciplines (even if it was not easy to find them).
With regard to Chemistry exercises, we found some mistakes on written form of the symbols (e.g. PB instead of Pb). It could be useful provide some explanation when the answer of the interactive exercises is wrong. These exercises could also be sorted by level of user’s knowledge.
The graphical design can be improved in order to simplify the access to the contents. Maybe a search engine can solve this problem.
We appreciated very much the direct link to Skype or YouTube and the availability of exercises in English.
Our overall feeling is positive and we think this is a useful website for students.

This initiative is relevant because the interaction between teacher and students that is necessary for a good teaching job could be prolonged beyond the School time and could be more involving and motivating. For this last purpouse the tecnological part of the work can be very stimulating o verbal for those students that consider books too boring.
I think a great amount of the material of the website is worth trying and I'll text it in the near future.

Even if the title sounds futuristic, the idea behind is very simple – the essential fact of keeping a permanent contact with the pupils by maintaining their interest with activities to their liking. The resources are interesting and easy to be used, for sure I will use some of the ideas and Hot Potatoes activities. The lessons will be more fun and their interest in biology will increase.

A student can study at any time and at any space using modern technologies . They are able to do laboratory work even if they were not present at the lessons. We have a similar site Eduspace where we can use materials prepared by ourselves and other teachers.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
