The ESTABLISH project implements IBSE by bringing together a consortium of 11 EU countries to work with local teachers and students to develop and implement IBSE teaching and learning materials and evaluation tools that are culturally adapted for use in each country.

The rationale :creating authentic learning environments for science by involving all the key communities in second level science education.

Main focus - establishing framework models together with developing IBSE materials and teacher workshops that are informed by key stakeholders.

Specific Project objectives of ESTABLISH are:
• Identify, develop and localise inquiry-based teaching and learning materials;
• Provide supports for teachers to successfully implement IBSE;
• Share inquiry approaches and learn from one another’s experiences to promote IBSE across Europe;
• Stimulate student learning and promote careers opportunities in science to young people;
• Foster a mutually beneficial relationships between industrial, scientific, teaching and educational communities;
• Promote the experiential and educational benefits of IBSE.

Results : teaching and learning materials (ESTABLISH Units) with industrial contexts and knowledge together with a series of educational supports for both in-service and pre-service teachers (ESTABLISH Teacher Education Programmes) designed to promote the use of Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE) in classrooms across Europe; the international Science and Mathematics Education Conference in 2012 in Dublin.
More Information

This initiative is really interesting and well developed as it provides materials that can be really useful for a methodological approach to many topics. It may be used as a handbook in the creation of didactical activities. It provides indication on materials, goals, activities and timing both for teachers and students, suggesting both individual and group activities.
I’ll use it with my students to introduce them to the topic or renewable energies.
I think I’ll take it as example to plan other activities.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
