Description of the initiative
"Maths and Science for Better Understanding the World We Live in" is a project addressed not only to our students but also to our teachers. Through this project we want to help our students to understand these difficult disciplines and we want our teachers to improve the way they’re teaching. By pointing out interesting applications of Math and Science in the real life we will manage to increase the motivation for learning them. Each partner school will decide which famous mathematician or scientist, what methods and what applications to include in the final products that we will create, according to their national specific, their industry etc. Our schools have a young and dynamic group of teachers. Most of them are carrying the excitement of learning and teaching in their hearts. In the beginning of their working life, they are hunger of learning and applying new techniques. Science and Mathematics curricula were changed in the last years in our countries and we have had a new perspective of education. Constructivist approach leads these curricula and we are very enthusiastic about the application part of different activities that will help students become little scientists. Our aim is for our students to be aware of the world, technology and environment around them. Every country has its own curricula, own culture and education system, so this project will create a mutual relationship between countries that each group will benefit from. We believe that the social side of this project will be as important as its educational side. Students from different cultures, religions and backgrounds will be friends and won’t forget the things they shared in this project. One of the major aims of education is becoming a world citizen and this action will be a good step on this way
More Information
The project has a generous goal that of helping students understand better these difficult scientific disciplines and to help teachers improve the way they’re teaching: each partner decides methods and what applications to include in the final products according to their national specific, their industry
Teachers’ Opinion
I like very much the combination of goals this project has: the students to be aware of the world, technology and environment around them; this project will create a mutual relationship between countries; the social side of this project will be as important as its educational side.
Students’ Opinion
The project helps students have a better understanding of the world we live in and of the technology we use. The project also has a strong cultural character: students from different cultures, religions and backgrounds participate in the project by exchanging ideas and opinions on science, nature and technology.

I find this initiative really fascinating as it is perfectly contestualized with the moder era and globalization. Its potential is huge. It would be great to create a group of students, more than teachers, with the passion for the study and ready tohave a constructive dialogue in order to win the resistence towards scientific subjects.I think it will be interesting to propose the papers to my students.

Dissemination Seminar in Florence

31 October 2015 The seminar has been held in ITIS “A. Meucci” one of the schools involved within Goerudio project activities. Its main aim was to promote the results of the project toward a broad sample of stakeholders even overcrossing the number of people directly involved in the production of project outcomes. This purpose has been totally achieved especially thanks to the participation of students and teachers coming from different schools or from other classes instead of those ones directly involved within the project activities.
